Adoptable Adult Dogs
Please note: most ages and breeds are educated guesses based on what we know about each dog and our veterinarian’s professional opinion.
Please be patient with us as we work to get all of our dogs uploaded. We are a very small team managing a large number of animals, so while we’d love to have everyone posted already, we’re getting there one dog (and a lot of coffee ☕) at a time.
The good news? We’re actively updating this page every single day and are currently adding 2–4 new dogs each night, so there’s always something new to see. We truly have a little bit of everything, different ages, personalities, and energy levels so if you don’t see your perfect match today, check back soon… they might just be posted tomorrow.
In the meantime, you can also view more of our available dogs on our Facebook Page, Petfinder, Rescue Me, and Adopt A Pet accounts, just search Tails of the Forgotten Paws. 🙂

If you’re looking for a dog with personality, Fallon is your guy.
This little dude is full of character, confidence, and just enough sass to keep life interesting. Fallon is one of those dogs that will absolutely make you laugh once you understand him, but he does need the right person who can see past his “tough guy” act.
Fallon is affectionate, playful, and bonds closely with his people. He enjoys being near you, loves soft places (especially fresh laundry 😄), and has a funny, expressive way of communicating.
🐾 Personality & Temperament
Confident, vocal, expressive, and full of personality. Fallon likes to “talk” and will absolutely let you know how he feels with little growls and grumbles.
👉 This is NOT aggression.
👉 This is his personality.
He acts like a tough guy, but it’s all bluff. Fallon does not have a mean bone in his body, he just has a big opinion and isn’t shy about sharing it.
He thrives with someone calm and confident who doesn’t take his sass too seriously.
🐾 Compatibility
Dogs: Yes, gets along well, may act a little bossy or vocal
Cats: Good, however he is likely to pester (typical terrier curiosity) lol
Kids: Older children recommended (due to personality and need for understanding his behavior)
🐾 Training & Skills
Fallon is smart and observant. He learns quickly, but like many small, expressive dogs, he needs guidance that is calm and consistent.
His biggest “challenge” is not behavior, it’s being misunderstood.
If pushed too quickly or handled without allowing him to settle, he will become more vocal and defensive.
🐾 Very Important – Decompression
Fallon requires proper decompression when entering a new home.
This means:
❌ No rushing interaction
❌ No immediate leash work
❌ No overwhelming him with people
👉 Give him time, space, and calm structure
When given that time, his true personality comes out quickly and he settles beautifully.
Failure to follow decompression will result in increased vocal behavior and stress, which is exactly what led to his previous return.
🐾 Special Skills 😄
Certified “Tough Guy”
Fallon will absolutely let you know he’s ready to “throw paws”…
…but it’s all talk.
Approach him calmly, give him a moment, and you’ll quickly see he’s all fluff than fighter. (Don't tell him we told you this..)
🐾 Adoption Requirements
• Patient, calm, and confident owner
• Willingness to follow decompression guidelines
• Someone who understands small dog “attitude” behavior
• Home that will not be intimidated by vocally expressive little dog.
🐾 Fun Facts / Quirks
• LOVES fresh blankets and laundry
• Will claim the softest spot immediately
• Full of personality and sass
• Bonds deeply with his people
• Makes you laugh once you “get” him
• Acts like he runs the house 😏
Fallon is not a dog for someone looking for a couch potato, but for the right person, he is an incredibly entertaining, affectionate, and loyal companion, and his little tough guy attitude is so endearing and makes you love him even more. :)
If you’re looking for a dog with personality, humor, and just a little bit of attitude…(All talk)... Fallon is your guy.
Special Traits:
Highly expressive and vocal; uses growling as communication, not aggression. Needs an adopter who understands confidence and calm handling.
Ideal Home:
Calm, confident home with someone who understands dog behavior, will follow decompression, and can appreciate a dog with a bold personality.

Spike is incredibly affectionate and bonds strongly with his humans. He’s one of those dogs that will make you laugh daily with his antics and spunky attitude.
🐾 Personality & Temperament
High energy, playful, spunky, confident, and full of life. Spike has a big personality in a small body and absolutely thrives on activity and interaction. 🐾 Training & Skills
Spike is smart, very smart. He learns quickly, observes everything, and is always paying attention. He does well overall, but his biggest “skill” is also what requires the most management…
🐾 Special Skills 😄
Professional Escape Opportunist
Spike watches. He studies. He waits.
The second a door or gate opens and you’re not paying attention, he’s gone.
And once he’s out? It’s a game.
He will run, dodge, and keep just enough distance to make you think you’ve got him… until you don’t.
This is not occasional, this is **consistent behavior**.
He requires someone who is extremely mindful with doors, gates, and entry/exit routines at all times. Even experienced handlers have to stay on their toes with him.

• Someone who understands management and consistency
🐾 Fun Facts / Quirks

Special Traits:
Extremely intelligent and observant; known for darting through doors/gates if given the opportunity. Requires consistent awareness and management.

Pete is one of those dogs that somehow gets overlooked… and we can’t quite figure out why.
He was found as a young pup, dumped on a rural road with his siblings. They were just babies, trying to survive, getting into trash, with people threatening to harm them.
We didn’t have room.
But we made room.
One by one, his siblings found homes.
Pete stayed.
And he’s been waiting ever since.
Pete is, simply put, one of the sweetest dogs you will ever meet. He’s gentle, easygoing, and has a soft, sensitive nature. He may look like a hoss chunk of a dog, but at heart? He’s a total weenie.
🐾 Personality & Temperament
Sweet, gentle, affectionate, and laid-back. Pete has a calm, easy vibe and enjoys being around people and other dogs. He’s not overly hyper, more of a “hang out and enjoy life” kind of dog.
🐾 Compatibility
Dogs: Yes - does great with other dogs
Cats: No – not due to aggression, but unknown exposure; we do not take risks
Kids: 10+ recommended (not due to behavior concerns, but lack of exposure, he is a very gentle dog)
🐾 Training & Skills
Pete has been in a sanctuary environment since he was a young pup. He has not lived in a traditional home setting, so he will need guidance and structure as he transitions.
With proper decompression and a family willing to follow guidance, dogs like Pete adjust very well.
Success with Pete will come down to the person, not him.
🐾 Special Skills 😄

Pete’s special talent is being incredibly easy to love. He bonds deeply, gets along with everyone, and just wants to be part of a calm, stable environment.

Breed: American Staffordshire Terrier
Energy Level: Low
Katie Bug is the kind of dog that thinks the world revolves around her…
…and honestly, we let her believe it 😄
She came to us originally as an emergency medical case. Her owner was unable to afford a life-saving surgery, and we stepped in to help.
Katie underwent a major procedure and, thankfully, made it through.
Not long after, she was given away and improperly introduced into another home with multiple dogs. Without decompression, without structure, and without guidance, she was set up to fail.
When things went wrong, she was discarded.
Again.
That’s when she came back to us, and this time, she stayed.
🐾 Personality & Temperament
Katie Bug is a people dog through and through.
She does not know a stranger. She loves attention, thrives on human interaction, and will happily insert herself directly into your personal space if given the chance 😄
She is affectionate, social, and full of personality. With people, she is confident, loving, and always ready to be involved in whatever is going on.
With other dogs, Katie coexists well but prefers her independence. She is not a dog that seeks out close bonds or playmates. Instead, she does her own thing and expects others to respect her space.
And they do.
Katie carries herself with a quiet confidence that makes it very clear…
She runs the yard.
🐾 Compatibility
Dogs: Yes – coexists well with respectful, non-confrontational dogs but does best as the only dog
Cats: Unknown – not tested; we do not take risks
Kids: Yes – has done well; respectful interactions always required
🐾 Training & Transition
Katie Bug requires proper decompression when transitioning into a home.
While she adjusted well here with structured, proper introduction, it did not happen overnight. It took time for her true personality to fully emerge.
Her adopter must understand that even though she is social and confident now, she will need time, space, and proper guidance to adjust in a new environment.
No rushing. No overwhelming. No improper introductions.
We know this dog, and we know exactly what she needs to succeed.
That guidance must be followed.
🐾 Lifestyle & Routine
Katie lives freely in a structured yard environment where she coexists with other dogs while maintaining her independence.
She has her own “space” - her cozy, covered setup filled with blankets, comfort, and her collection of toys.
She enjoys:
• Lounging and relaxing
• Collecting and hoarding toys (especially squeaky ones 😄)
• Chewing and removing every squeaker she can find
• Having her own quiet, comfortable area
Katie is not a high-energy dog. She is calm, low-key, and perfectly content living a relaxed lifestyle.
🐾 Special Skills 😄
Queen of the Yard
Katie carries herself like she owns the place, and somehow… everyone else agrees.
🐾 Adoption Requirements
• Fully fenced yard, preferred (not a deal breaker)
• Preferably the only dog (best fit)
• Calm, low-energy household
• MUST follow decompression and transition guidance
• Adopter who understands structure, boundaries, and proper introductions
🐾 Fun Facts / Quirks
• Collects toys and keeps them in her space
• Obsessed with squeakers (and destroying them)
• Loves blankets and cozy setups
• Low energy – prefers lounging over chaos
• Extremely people-oriented and affectionate
• Has a big personality wrapped in a chill lifestyle
Katie Bug isn’t for everyone.
She doesn’t need chaos. She doesn’t need a busy, high-energy home.
She needs someone who understands her, respects her space, and is willing to follow the guidance we provide.
In return?
You get a loyal, loving, hilarious companion who will keep you entertained, keep you company, and absolutely make herself the center of your world.
Special Traits:
Confident, people-loving, independent; thrives in a structured environment and requires proper decompression and transition.
Ideal Home:
Calm, low-key home where she can be the center of attention, with an adopter willing to follow guidance and give her the structure she needs to succeed.
If you’re ready for a dog with personality, presence, and a whole lot of love…

TEMPERAMENT:
Ava is an incredibly sweet, gentle, and loving dog who has overcome a very difficult start to life. She is calm, easy going, and forms strong bonds with her people. Ava has a quiet, affectionate nature and enjoys simply being near her humans. She is not a high-maintenance dog and settles in well once she feels safe and secure.
BACKGROUND:
Ava was pulled from a shelter in critical condition after only a short time there. She was severely emaciated, unable to lift her head, and had just had a litter of puppies. She required immediate emergency care to survive.
After recovery, Ava spent several years in a foster home where she unfortunately experienced repeated incidents with a small dog that was not properly managed. Despite ongoing issues, Ava remained tolerant until she was pushed to defend herself. Due to the unsafe environment, she was returned and has been under our care since.
DOG COMPATIBILITY:
Good with other dogs, both male and female, as long as they are respectful and well-mannered. Ava does best in stable environments with proper introductions.
🚫 No small dogs
CAT COMPATIBILITY:
Unknown
🚫 No cats (not tested; we do not take chances)

(This is based on policy, as she has not been tested with young children. Ava is not aggressive, but we prioritize safe and appropriate placements.)
TRAINING & SKILLS:

✔ Leash trained
✔ Previously housebroken
✔ Very intelligent and eager to please
Ava has prior training and, with consistency and patience, will easily fall back into a routine. She is a quick learner and responds well to guidance.

Cara is not the kind of dog who rushes up to greet everyone.
And that’s exactly what makes her special.
She came to us as a young pup alongside her siblings after being passed around early in life. While the others were more outgoing, Cara was more thoughtful… more observant… more selective in how she bonded.
And that’s not fear.
That’s intelligence.
Dogs like Cara don’t give their trust away freely, they pay attention first, they learn their environment, and when they do bond… it’s deep, loyal, and lasting.
Over time, Cara settled in beautifully with us and her kennel mates. Her siblings were adopted.
Cara stayed.
Not because she wasn’t chosen…
but because we are waiting for the right fit.
🐾 Personality & Temperament
Cara is incredibly gentle, calm, and soft-natured. She has a quiet presence and prefers a more peaceful environment. She is affectionate once she knows you, but not demanding or overly needy.
She is the kind of dog who bonds closely with her person and thrives in a stable, predictable setting.
🐾 Compatibility
Dogs: Yes, does excellent with male dogs; female compatibility may be selective
Cats: No – unknown exposure; we do not take risks
Kids: 12+ recommended (younger children considered case-by-case based on ability to follow guidance)
🐾 Training & Transition
Cara has lived in a sanctuary environment, not a traditional home.
This means her adopter MUST understand and commit to proper decompression.
When transitioning into a home, Cara will need time to adjust, feel safe, and learn a completely new way of living. This is normal.
We provide clear, step-by-step guidance , but it must be followed.
Dogs like Cara do incredibly well when given patience, structure, and consistency.
Success with Cara will come down to the person, not her.
🐾 Special Skills 😄
Quiet Observer
Cara’s special strength is her awareness and intelligence. She reads her environment, bonds deeply, and forms meaningful connections with her people.

• Thoughtful and observant personality
• Bonds deeply once she feels safe

She’s not the dog that demands attention the second you meet her.
But for the person who understands her…
she will be one of the most rewarding dogs you will ever have.
She doesn’t need chaos.
She doesn’t need constant activity.
She just needs a calm, understanding home where she can feel safe, settle in, and quietly become part of your world.
Special Traits:
Highly intelligent, observant, and gentle; requires proper decompression and a calm, structured environment to thrive.
